Abstract

Objective To investigate the value of the application for the analysis of color doppler ultrasound in the relation for carotid atherosclerotic plaques and cerebral infarction. Methods 168 cases in our hospital from January 2008 to January 2011 examined by the CT and MRI confirmed that patients with cerebral infarction were examined by color doppler ultrasound. 160 cases at the same hospital in patients with non-cerebrovascular disease were set as the control group. The examination results of the two groups were compared. Results 134 cases in the 168 patients in the observation group (79.76%) were with different degrees of atherosclerotic plaque diagnosed by color coppler ultrasound. There were 6 cases with diagnosis of cranial veins outside of the carotid artery segment in atherosclerosis in the 160 cases diagnosis of carotid extracrania. The detection rates for the color doppler ultrasound were compared, the differences were significant (P0.05). The site of atherosclerotic plaque with the highest incidence was carotid artery bifurcation, followed by the common carotid artery. Infarct artery atherosclerosis was significantly higher than contralateral(P0.01).Conclusion The carotid atherosclerotic plaque is an important risk factor for cerebral infarction.Color Doppler ultrasound has a high detection rate for carotid atherosclerotic plaque. For early diagnosis and early prevention, the use of color Doppler ultrasound for screening of carotid atherosclerosis and carotid artery stenosis are recommended. in the clinical practice.
