Abstract

The Boxer Movement promoted the popularity and heritage of Chinese martial arts,it also greatly improved the cultural exchanges during its struggle against the imperialist aggression.The failure of the Boxer movement offered the chances to expand Chinese martial arts exchanges with the west,to accelerate the martial arts 's type shift to a sports game,promoted the development of competitive martial arts,as well as the changes in its function and value.The Boxer movement was an essential watershed in the history of Chinese martial arts.
