Breeding and Application of New High Quality Aromatic Soft Hybrid Rice Wenfu 7

Wenfu 7,a and soft hybrid rice,derived from the cross between the CMS line Yixiang 1A and the and soft restorer line Wenhui 206,was developed by the Wenshan Agricultural Science Research Institute,Yunnan Province,based on the mating strategy of high with quality and with aromatic in hybrid rice breeding.It was characterized by grain quality(meeting the first class of state standards of fine rice) with rice fragrance,high yield,wide adaptability and suitable maturity.It yielded 8.7 t/hm2 on average,0.9% of yield increase over the check hybrid,in the provincial regional trials of Yunnan Province in 2006 and 2007.It was registered and released for commercial production by the Yunnan Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in April,2008.The breeding procedure of Wenfu 7 and its major characteristics,cultivation and hybrid seed production techniques were introduced in this paper.
