Correlation between mental health and family environment in poor college students

Objective To study the correlation between mental health and family environment in poor college students and provide substantial evidence for advancing their mental health and improving family environment.Methods 485 poor college students and 496 non-poor students in Hunan Agricultural University were investigated by applying SCL-90 and FES-CV.Results The scores of SCL-90 for compulsion,depression,sensitivity,hostility,psychoticis of poor college students were significantly higher than that of the non-poor students.Compared to non-poor students,the FES-CV scores of poor students were significantly lower in cohesion and entertainment,but significantly higher in conflict,dependence,achievement orientation.There were significant negative correlation between the scores of cohesion,expressiveness,intellectual orientation,entertainment,moral-religious emphasis,organization in FES-CV and the score of every factor in SCL-90.Significant positive correlation was found between the score of conflict and the score of every factor in SCL-90.Conclusion Poor students' mental health is not good and affected by family environment.
