Abstract

Caudal-related homeobox transcription factor 2(CDX2) is a recently found specific transcription factor, which has relative specificity and sensitivity to normal or tumorous enteric epithelium. It can result in differentiation of enteric epithelium and play an important role for the maintainance of its phenotype. The expression of CDX2 has better indicative effect for digestive tumor, precancerous diseases and pathological changes of of alimentary canal. This article reviews relationship of CDX2 with colon carcinoma, colonic polyp and adenoma, the expression of CDX2 in gastric intestinal metaplasia and gastric cancer and its significance, the value of the expression of CDX2 for the early diagnosis of Barrett′s esophagus and so on.
