Abstract
Objective To study the antifungal action of Chitin. Methods Dermatophytes and Candida were cultured on the Sabouraud's agar containing different concentrations of Chitin to determine the minimal inhibitory concertrations(MIC). Results The MIC of Chitin was 2.50, 2.50, 5.00, 5.00, 5.00 g/L for Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton lonsurans, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, M. gypseum, and Candida albicans, respectively. Conclusion Chitin has strong antifungal action for Trichophyton rubrum and Trichophyton lonsurans.
