An Empirical Study on the Dynamic Change of Total Factor Productivity of New Energy Listed Companies in China

Abstract

By applying the DEA-Malmquist Index Method, the article researched the dynamic change for total factor productivity and decomposition of new energy listed companies in China from the perspective of multiple-input and multiple-output. The study showed that the total factor productivity growth of Chinese new energy listed companies was lower between 2006 and 2011, and the average growth rate of TFP was only 1.5%. The growth of total factor productivity mainly was due to the technical progress. However, the effect brought by the technical progress was neutralized by the decrease of technical efficiency to a certain extent. Finally, the paper analyzed the differences among the change of the total factor productivity, the change of technical efficiency and technological progress for different types of new energy companies from the point of view of different types of new energy companies.
