Abstract
Based on DEA-Malmquist productivity index, the total factor productivity(TFP)of 29 listed Chinese large-scale contractors in 2012 is estimated during the period of 2007-2011. The result shows that the average annual growth ratio of total factor productivityis-3.2%,the overall trend is increasing first and then declines. This indicates that the productivit of 29 contractors generally have not improved significantly during the five years. Their performances are achieved by extensive scale expansion rather than intensive productivity implementation. And the enhancement of productivity mainly relies on technical efficiency improvement,not ontechnical progress. Finally,the technical efficiency and technological progress changes are analyzed,and recommendations are given.
