Abstract
Objective To evaluate the diagnosis value of serum Cys-C and β2-MG levels in diabetic nephropathy(DN).Methods The turbidimetric immunoassay method was adopted to detect the serum Cys-C and β2-MG levels in 162 type 2 diabetic patients, which contain 61 cases without urinary albumin excretion(group Ⅰ),48 cases with low urinary albumin concentration(group Ⅱ),and 53 DN patients(group Ⅲ).Results There were no significant differences for the serum Cys-C and β2-MG levels between health control group and group I;however, they were significantly lower than that in both group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ(P0.05).The highest serum Cys-C and β2-MG levels were observed in group Ⅲ,which significantly differed with other groups(P0.05).When the two serum biomarkers were used for DN diagnosis, the area under ROC curve were 0.978(0.956-1.000) for Cys-C and 0.871(0.942-1.000) for β2-MG,which combined with the Youden index of 1.952 and 1.867,respectively.Conclusion The serum levels of Cys-C and β2-MG could be employed as biomarkers in the diagnosis of DN.However, the diagnosis power was relatively higher for Cys-C than β2-MG.
