A Dynamic Evaluation of the Urban-Rural Coordinated Development in the Minority Areas of China: A Case Study in Xianjiang

A scientific evaluation of the urban-rural coordinated development is crucial to narrow the gap between urban and rural development.On the basis of the related conception analysis and literature review and with a case study in Xinjiang,this paper establishes an evaluation index system for analyzing the urban-rural coordinated development from the dimensions of economy,society and living standards.Meanwhile,this paper also conducts a dynamic evaluation of Xinjiang's urban and rural coordinated development from 1990 to 2010 through the method of combined weighting,which finds an unbalanced urban and rural development and a worsening trend in this aspect.Though this imbalance in development has somewhat improved since 2003,the urban-rural coordinated development is still awaiting further improvement.
