Observations on the Efficacy of Combined Acupuncture and Medicine in Treating Vertebrobasilar Insufficiency

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of combined use of acupuncture and medicine in treating vertebrobasilar insufficiency. Method Sixty patients with vertebrobasilar insufficiency were randomly allocated to a treatment group of 30 cases receiving acupuncture moxibustion and medication and a control group of 30 cases receiving medication only. Results After treatment, the total efficacy rate was 96.7% in the treatment group and 73.3% in the control group; there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P0.01). Conclusion Combined acupuncture and medicine has a marked therapeutic effect on vertebrobasilar insufficiency.
