Abstract
Lanthanum p-toluene sulfonate was prepared with lanthanum carbonate and p-toluene sulfonic acid as starting materials,and the prepared product was characterized by UV and FTIR.Synthesis of cyclohexyl acetate was carried out with acetic acid and cyclohexanol as starting materials under the help of the lanthanum p-toluene sulfonate catalyst.Factors that affect the esterification conversion were examined.Results showed that lanthanum p-toluene sulfonate is a good catalyst for synthesis of cyclohexyl acetate.Under conditions as 10 mL of acetic acid,molar ratio of acetic acid to cyclohexanol 1∶1.4,dosage of the catalyst 1.2 g,reaction time 4 h,dosage of cyclohexane as water stripping agent 15 mL,the esterification conversion could reach 99.5%,and the product yield achieves 92.2%.
