Abstract

The Kuilei Lake is the main drinking water supply source of the Kunshan city. According to recent monitoring results, the water quality is facing great threats due to upstream pollution, neighboring agriculture non - point sources, aquatic breeding pollution and so on. Thus it becomes a major issue with respect to sustainable development of Kunshan. This article first analyzes the status and causations of pollution of the Kuilei Lake and establishes the scheme of the water pollution control: non - point source pollution control, integration of upstream and downstream control;then based on field survey and both China and international research results, and sets up the integrated pollution control project of the Kuilei Lake, and brings forward many propositions regarding agriculture non - point source, breed aquatics pollution , pollution regulation of both upstream and downstream in order to insure the safety of the drinking water supply of both the city zone and attached counties in Kunshan.
