Abstract
Research on sustainable operation at a unit level is the foundation and guarantee for the realization of forest sustainable development. It is also a front edge subject which needs to be urgently studied under the present conditions of forest management.Taking Huaxi national forest farm in Shaoguan,Guangdong province,as an example and considering the results from investigations on this province's forest resources and ecological conditions, this paper discusses the index system of sustainable operation in terms of forest ecological function, and points out that the development of the whole forest system will not be sustainable if it is not combined with the sustainable forest development in ecology.
