Development and Influential Factors of Cultivation in Initial Stage and Mid-term of the Qing Dynasty in Heilongjiang Province

The cultivation in Heilongjiang began rather late. The initial stage and mid-term of the Qing Dynasty was the period of shape-forming and fast development of the cultivation in Heilongjiang. It was by the combined results of certain natural, political, military and social factors that the fast development was achieved. Among them, forests in temperate zone, the environment of forest and grasslands, bitter climate, Blockade and Prohibition policy had retarded its exploitation and development prior to this period. The fundamental driving force of its exploitation and development was both the need of frontier military and the large-scale immigration of the Han people.
