Abstract
In recent years, great achievements have been made in the study of Liang Qichao in academic circles.More and more knowledge of Liang's historical study has been obtained. However, less research has been done into his historical view.A prevailing opinion is held that Liang is a historical idealist;nevertheless,by studying his theory we come to a quite different conclusion that Liang has no idealist outlook, and therefore, does not have idealist conception of history. Moreover, depending on the criterion of historical materialism, excluding Liang's historical study from the norms is neither beneficial to the academic study nor to the development of historical study. In fact,it seems more meaningful at the present time to compare Liang's historical view of history with that of materialism.
