An Analysis of the Calligraphic Art of Wang Duo

Wang Duo,a calligrapher living at the end of Ming Dynasty and the early beginning of Qing Dynasty,is highly praised by the world particularly for the cursive script in the art of calligraphy.Although Wang Duo achieves beauty and elegance in the cursive style by learning from the two Wangs,yet his art demonstrates the integration of the feature of Rongbeitie and the profound simplicity represented by Yang Zhenqing and Li Yong.Besides his skill in ink penetration has also found its full play.His calligraphy displays his uniqueness for profoundness in strength,maturity in stroke,thickness in ink expansion,and unrestrained freedom in structure.
