Abstract

Objective To study the role and their correlationship of BcL 2 and p53 expression in gastric carcinogenesis. Methods Immunohistochemical double staining technique was used to detect the expression of BcL 2 and p53 in 156 cases of gastric specimens. Results Both BcL 2 and p53 were negatively expressed in normal gastric mucosa.A high positive rate of BcL 2 in severe atypical hyperplasia (69.6%) and well differentiated adenocarcinoma (73.9%) were found, and the positive rate was significantly higher than that in minor atypical hyperplasia and moderate differentiated and poor differentiated adenocarcinoma( P 0.05).The expression of p53 in gastric carcinoma was significantly higher than that in gastric mucosa atypical hyperplasia and elevated with low degree of differentiation in gastric carcinoma( P 0.05).In gastric carcinoma with lymphatic metastasis,it showed low expression of BcL 2 and high expression of p53( P 0.05).There was significantly reverse relevant between p53 and BcL 2 proteins expression( P 0.01).Conclusion BcL 2 and p53 play the roles in different stage of carcinogenesis and development respectively and contribute to early diagnosis and evaluating prognosis of gastric carcinoma.
