Challenges to Higher Vocational English Teachers and Their Essential Qualities

Abstract

Based on the current situation of higher vocational English teachers in China,the essay analyzes challenges to higher vocational English teachers from curriculum basic requirements,teaching objects and development of higher vocational colleges.Thereupon,essential qualities that higher vocational English teachers should possess are pointed out,namely,rudiments of English teaching theories,English skills,English classroom teaching,modern educational technology and qualities of double-role teachers.Finally,the ways to improve the qualities of higher vocational English teachers and their mission are suggested.
