Abstract
By using a comprehensive evaluation method based on analytic hierarchy process(AHP), this paper has made an empirical study and horizontal comparison of urban-rural integration level of 12 major large and medium-sized cities along the coast of China. The results show that Shenzhen ranks first, followed by Suzhou, Beijing, Hangzhou and Ningbo; Guangzhou, Dalian, Shanghai and Nanjing forms the third group, their integration levels are similar; Xiamen, Tianjin and Qingdao ranks last. Except Shenzhen, although other cities are economically developed, their level of harmonization is obviously insufficient in the process of urban and rural integration. In the future, their governments need to continue to increase their rural construction and investment.
