OBSERVATION ON GERMICIDAL EFFICACY OF POVIDONE-IODINE DISINFECTION SOLUTION

Objective To observe the germicidal efficacy of a povidone-iodine disinfection solution. Method Suspension quantitative germicidal test was used to observe the germicidal efficacy of the povidone-iodine disinfection solution. Result The average killing logarithm value of Staphylococcus aureus in suspension exposed to the povidone-iodine disinfection solution containing available iodine 500 mg/L for 1 min was 5.89,that of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in suspension exposed for 1 min were 6.04 and 5.65 respectively.The average killing logarithm values of Candida albicans in suspension exposed to the povidone-iodine disinfection solution containing available iodine 500 mg/L for 1 min was 4.95.The killing logarithm values of natural bacteria on forearm skin surface of volunteers exposed to this disinfection solution containing available iodine 500 mg/L for 2 min was 1.29 in average.Conclusion This povidone-iodine disinfection solution has good germicidal efficacy
