Abstract
Objective To understand the health knowledge and behavior of the rural residents in Tianjin,providing the evidence for health education and heath promotion in rural areas.Methods By using the multi-stage random sampling method,2000 rural residents aged above 15 in Tianjin were recruited.Results The awareness rate of health knowledge was 50.50%.The correct rate for two out of ten questions was lower.The percent of the rural residents who answered the malnutrition question correctly was 32.8%(657).17.4% of(348) the residents answered the question that lack of fluorine could lead to diseases correctly.There was significant difference in answering the question which feeding method is most beneficial to infants between males and females,no difference for other nine questions.Only Jinnan district had an average score of ten pieces of health knowledge(8.04±1.46) higher than the standards,the average scores of the other three districts were lower than the standard.There was significant difference in the scores among different age groups in three districts(Xiqing,Jinnan,and Hangu)(P0.05).The significant difference was observed among four districts(P0.05) and so was among residents with different education levels.78.30% of the residents wanted to acquire health knowledge by books,newspaper,magazine,television,internet,and so on.Conclusion The number of the residents who had a score of health knowledge higher than the standard was relatively small.Health education addressing health knowledge was needed for them,and it is better to use the communication channels that the rural residents favored.
