Effects of Clause Type and Task Type on EFL Learners' Sentence Combining

Task type and clause type exert some effects on EFL learners' sentence combining.Task type consists of two levels: sentence connection and error correction(for combined sentence).Clause type is categorized under 3 types: relative clause,adverbial clause and nominal clause.The repeated MANOVA indicates that both task type and clause type have a main effect on EFL learners' sentence combining and there is a significant interaction effect between them.The analysis of interaction shows that in the test of sentence connection,adverbial clause is significantly better than relative clause,but in error correction,no significant difference between them is found.Besides,in sentence connection,there is no significant difference between adverbial clause and nominal clause,whereas,they have significant difference in error correction.
