Abstract
hydroxy 4 sulfamylbenzendiazoaminoazobenzene(HSDAA)has been synthesized. The color reaction of HSDAA with cadmium was investigated. In the presence of the surface active agent Triton X 100 and in a Na 2B 4O 7 NaOH medium of pH?8 5~10 5,HSDAA with Cd(Ⅱ)forms a red complex, the molar absorbtivity of the complex is e =1 84×10 5 L·mol 1 ·cm 1 at the determination wavelength of 525 nm with the mloar ratio of Cd(Ⅱ)to HSDAA is 1∶2.The Beers law is well obeyed in the range of 0~480 μg/L for cadmium at the determination wavelength. This method has been applied to detemine trace amounts of cadmium in water sample with satisfactory results.
