Abstract
A new reagent 2-hydroxy-5-chloro-3-sulfobenzenediazoaminoazobenzene(HCSDAA)has been synthesized and the color reaction of HCSDAA with cadmium(Ⅱ) has been studied. The results show that HSCDAA reacted with cadmium(Ⅱ)to form a stable red complex(3:1) in the presence of TritonX-100 at pH 11.2.The maximum absorption of the complex is at 528 nm ,and the apperent molar absrptivity is 2.46×105 L·mol-1·cm-1.Beer's law is obeyed in the range of 0~20 μg/25 mL for cadmium(Ⅱ).The method was applied to the determination of cadmium in waste water with satisfactory results.
