Abstract
An F-EMS( final electromagnetic stirring) device has been used on a round billet caster at Baosteel. Based on the application results of the F-EMS device as well as the molten steel superheat during casting, the casting speed and the secondary cooling process, this paper compared and determined the effects of different F-EMS processes on the internal quality of continuously-cast billets and the composition uniformity, microstructure and performance of finished pipes. The results show that the combined F-EMS process has good metallurgical effects and can significantly improve the composition uniformity, microstructure and performance of steel pipes.
