Abstract

Commercial experiments were implemented with M-EMS and F-EMS at a billet caster in Iron and Steel Group Company of Qingdao for high carbon steel casting.Appropriate electromagnetic stirring parameters were recommended to improve the quality of billets to diminish defects such as center and middle cracks, central porosity and carbon segregation, corner cracks etc.
