Abstract

Implicature is a linguistic phenomenon that speaker conveys different content from propositional meaning in words. Starting from the context and language form,it can be also divided into conventional implicature and conversational implicature. Conventional implicature essentially has the natures of adhesion and subjectivity, that is,it attaches to a specific language form, and can also be realized on the basis of Speaker's intervention. Conversational implicature has essential attributes as context dependence, context consensus and semantic dynamic, that is,it perches on the contexts that both communicative sides are clear, the changes of the contexts will produce different or temporary conversational implicature. As a reference of identifiable features in language forms, this paper analyzes difference and generality between conventional implicature and conversational implicature, and pursues for updated understanding on implicature in pragmatics.
