Abstract

In the face of new challenges from the knowledge economy and the trend of lifelong education,adult education,for its own survival and development,must change its emphasis from basis-oriented and knowledge-based education to professionalization-oriented and capability-and skill-based education.Chinese adult higher education should aim to contribute to the construction of a lifelong educational system instead of providing merely a complementing educational chance.
