Abstract
Objective To observe the effects of Danzhi Jiangtang Capsule on serum levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α)and chemokine(C-X-C motif)ligand 5(CXCL-5)in diabetic rats and to investigate the antidiabetic mechanism of Danzhi Jiangtang Capsule.Methods Healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into normal control group,model group,pioglitazone group,and high-and low-dose Danzhi Jiangtang Capsule groups.All rats except those in the normal control group were given streptozotocin by a single intraperitoneal injection to induce a diabetes model.Double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to determine serum levels of TNF-αand CXCL-5.Results Compared with the model group,the pioglitazone group and high-and low-dose Danzhi Jiangtang Capsule groups had significantly reduced TNF-αand CXCL-5levels(P0.01),but TNF-αand CXCL-5levels showed no significant differences between the three treated groups(P0.05).Compared with those at 0week after the model was induced,the blood glucose levels of the pioglitazone and high-and low-dose Danzhi Jiangtang Capsule groups at the ends of the 2nd,4th,and 8th weeks were significantly reduced(P0.01).At the ends of the 2nd,4th,and 8th weeks,the pioglitazone group and high-and low-dose Danzhi Jiangtang Capsule groups had significantly lower blood glucose levels than the model group(P0.01),but blood glucose levels showed no significant differences between the three treated groups(P0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that blood glucose level was positively correlated with TNF-αand CXCL-5at the end of the 8th week(P0.01).Conclusion For diabetic rats,the antidiabetic mechanism of Danzhi Jiangtang Capsule involves reducing serum TNF-αand CXCL-5levels.
