Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of combined acupuncture and medicine in treating infantile primary enuresis. Methods Ninety-eight patients with infantile primary enuresis were randomly allocated to a treatment group of 50 cases and a control group of 48 cases. The treatment group received acupuncture plus oral administration of desmopressin acetate and the control group took desmopressin acetate only. Results The short-term total efficacy rate and the long-term total efficacy rate were 96.0% and 86.0%, respectively, in the treatment group and 82.2% and 54.2%, respectively, in the control group. There were statistically significant differences in both between the two groups (P 0.05). Conclusion Combined acupuncture and medicine is more effective than simple medication in treating infantile primary enuresis.
