Surveillance on Crossbreeding Effect of Hebei fine-wool Sheep and German Mutton Merino Sheep

Abstract

To improve the meat performance and keep wool quality,the Hebei fine-wool sheep was crossed with German mutton merion sheep.The results showed that compared with Hebei fine-wool sheep,body weight of the newborn and weaning lamb(male)of 37.5%,50%,68.5% and 75% German mutton merino sheep groups were significantly raised.No obvious change of the body weight was observed among all groups by 18 monthes old,which possibly was caused by nutrition level.Wool fineness did not change but clean wool yield were raised significantly(P0.01).Under the same nutrition condition,the average daily gain(ADG)of cross of Hebei to German mutton merino sheep lambs was significantly improved(P0.01)compared with Hebei fine-wool sheep.Simialarly,other carcass characteristics,such as carcass weight,dressing percentage and net beef percentage,were significantly improved(P0.01)too.
