Abstract

[Objective]To find out the causes of 1 human death case infected with highly pathogenic avian influenza virus,to provide a scientific basis for future prevention and control of the infection of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus in human.[Methods]Epidemiological survey and analysis were conducted for the case infected with highly pathogenic avian influenza virus on 26 January 2009.[Results]Samples of nasopharyngeal swab and secretions of lower respiratory tract were collected and tested in CDC of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and re-inspected by Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.AIV-RNA was positive. This was the first human case infected with highly pathogenic avian influenza virus in Beiliu city, the epidemic was well controlled after effective prevention measure was taken.[Conclusion]The infection source was avian. The key measures to prevent and control the infection of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus in human were to enhance the training for medical employees and surveillance to unclear pneumonias in medical establishments, cut off the transmission routes and take effective measures of environmental disinfection and separation.
