Abstract

This paper proposed an efficient and energy-saving routing protocol for wireless sensor networks. In the protocol, each sensor node stored multiple shortest routing paths to reach to the gateway nodes and employed the round robin mechanism to select one routing path so that the data transmission could be distributed evenly around the multiple paths to avoid the network congestion and to save the node’s energy. Discussed and analyzed the protocol in detail and implemented the protocol in a network simulation environment. Compared and analyzed the performances of the protocol,LEACH and PEGASIS. And the experimental data demonstrate that the performance of the protocol is better than the ones of LEACH and PEGASIS,which proves the protocol’s validity and correctness.
