Knowledge Survey of AIDS among Different Populations in Qinzhou City

[Objective]To understand the knowledge levels about HIV/AIDS among 4 kinds of populations,to evaluate the effect of health education,and adjust the content of health education and methods on next steps.[Methods]Random sampling method was adopted to conduct questionnaire survey on 4 kinds of populations during September 2008.[Results]The general awareness of AIDS knowledge among 4 kinds of populations was 65.10% of urban residents,39.61% of rural residents,50.67% of school students,60.33% of migrant workers,respectively;the differences between them were significant,the awareness of urban residents,rural residents and school students was higher than that of migrant workers(χ2=40.10,P0.01);the major media to gain the knowledge of HIV/AIDS was through television,which occupied 62.52%.[Conclusion]The general awareness of AIDS knowledge among 4 kinds of populations was lower than that of national average,the source of gaining AIDS knowledge is narrow,available media resources and other new approaches for propaganda should be used to improve the knowledge levels of HIV/AIDS among different social populations,which can really help enhancing the awareness of AIDS so as to prevent and control HIV/AIDS.
