Abstract

In this paper, the two calculation methods to estimate the flexural rigidity of bolted annular flange connections subjected to external bending moments are presented ,which one is based on Timoshenko's theory ,the other is based on Waters's theory. The first method ,taking account of the dispersiveness of bolt disposion and the rigidity of the flange-shell junction, leads to a flange rigidity near the actual conditions.
