Abstract

Objective To investigate the characteristics of SPECT rCBF imaging in patients with vascular dementia (VD). To explore new biological marker for early diagnosis and evaluation the severity of VD. Methods SPECT rCBF imaging was done in 105 cases, including 45 patients with VD,30 patients with stroke without dementia(SWD) and 30 normal controls(NC). The characteristics of rCBF were analyzed by semi quantity technique. Results The rCBF of frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe and basal ganglia was lower than that of patients with SWD( P 0.05),especially in frontal lobe and temporal lobe( P 0.01). The rCBF of frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe, occipital lobe and basal ganglia was lower than that of NC( P 0.05). There was positive correlation ship between rCBF of frontal lobe, parietal lobe and MMSE( r =0.755, P 0.01; r =0.524, P 0.05). Conclusion SPECT rCBF imaging can be used to early diagnose VD and evaluate the severity of patients with VD.
