Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of carisolv for chemomechanical caries in primary teeth.Methods:64 children, aged from 4 to 10 years, with symmetric coronal medium or deep caries in primary teeth were involved in the chinical study.According to a split-mouth design,in each patient, caries tissue was removed by using a round bur on one side, and carisolv on the other side. After caries removal, the teeth were restored with glass ionomer cement, the clinical efficacy was compared. Results:The patients felt more painful in the operation by drilling than by Carisolv(P0.01),97% of patients accepted the taste of Carisolv gel.The majority of patients preferred Carisolv to bur. After half year follow-up,there was no significant difference in the incidence of marginal microleakage, secondary caries and restoration lost between Carisolv and drilling treament(P0.05).Conclusion:Carisolv is a technique of less pain, the majority of patients accepte it.Carisolv may have no effect on the incidence of marginal microleakage and secondary caries.
