Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical significance of serum IL-4,IL-6 and TGF-β in tuberculosis(TB) patients. Methods We selected 42 TB patients and 28 healthy controls for the study. All participants were tested for serum IL-4,IL-6 and TGF-β levels with ELISA reagents. Results The concentration of IL-4 was significantly higher in TB patients than in controls(P0.05).The concentration of serum IL-6 was higher in TB smear-positive patients than in TB smear-negative patients(P0.05).TGF-β increased significantly with the progress of treatment(P0.05).There was a positive correlation between the levels of IL-4 and TGF-β among participants. Conclusion IL-4,IL-6 and TGF-β might be useful for the prognosis of pulmonary tuberculosis.
