Japanese Militarism of the Middle Age——Warriors, Bushido, Aggressive Politics and Militarism

militarism was formed during period of shogunate. Warriors were founders of militarism tradition and its supporters. They're also founders of spirits of nation, national tradition and national cultures. Since Meiji Reformation, Bushido that had long been thought as the spirit of Japanese by ruling government and lots of scholars has already become belief, source of thinking, and did as tool of war. It drove warriors to regard aggressive wars as origin of fortune and motivation of development. Shogunate relied on and stuck to militarism, and offered political stage and social space for militarism, and had militarism to be tradition, and established stabile and wide basis for modern militarism.
