Zhuxi' s Innovative Interpretation of the Nature of Mind in Traditional Confucianism

Abstract

Zhuxi inherited and re -interpreted the thoughts on Mind, Nature, and Benevolence of traditional Confucians as Confucius himself, Meng Zi, and Xun Zi. His advocating of Feelings added a complement to Mind Theories of the Han and Tang periods. His studies in the ideas in Yi, Xue, and Yong brought about a full and integrated theory of Humanity and Nature, which established the metaphysical basis for the Confucian Humanity.
