Abstract

Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment of blunt abdominal trauma. Methods Six hundred and seventeen patients with blunt abdominal trauma treated in our hospital from 2000 to 2009 were reviewed retrospectively. Results Of the 617 cases of blunt abdominal trauma,486 cases received surgical treatment,131 cases received conservative treatment. After treatment,569 cases were cured and 48 patients died. Conclusion Most abdominal traumas are multi-site and/or multi-organ associated injuries, diagnostic peritoneal puncture and ultrasonography are simple and reliable diagnostic methods. The correct perioperative management of abdominal trauma is the key measure to improve treatment success.Aggressive surgical exploration to stop bleeding is the most important treatment. The principle of surgical treatment is to adopt simple and effective operational mode.
