Abstract
Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of MRI in the tetralogy of Fallot. Methods Twenty patients suspected of tetralogy of Fallot clinically underwent MRI. Intracardiac and extracardiac abnormalities were studied on MRI. MRI findings were compared with echocardiographic findings. Results All cases were confirmed by surgery. MRI could demonstrate intracardiac and extracardiac abnormalities in the tetralogy of Fallot. Both MRI and echocardiography could show intracardiac abnormalities in the tetralogy of Fallot (χ2= 1.03-2.01, P0.05 ) but MRI was more excellent than echocardiography in showing extracardiac abnormalities in the tetralogy of Fallot (χ2 = 52.27,P0.001). Conclusion MRI is a very useful technique for diagnosing the tetralogy of Fallot.
