Influences of Ginkgobilobaextract,on Lipids and Lipid peroxidafion in rats

Objetive: To study the influences of ginkgo biloba extract on serum cholesterol and lipidperoxidation in rats.Methods: twenty rats were divided randomly into two groups,The rats with hypercholesterolemia and methionine load were fed with either ginkgo biloba extract as experimental groups or physiological saline as the control group for 4 weeks.The levels of plasma cholesterol and lipoperoxides were detected by enzymic method and TBA fluorometry1Results: The levels of lipoperoxides decreased significantly in experimental groups.The levels of cholesterol also decreased significantly in experimental groups.Conclusion: The ginkgo biloba extract can be play a certain role in resolusion of atherosclerosis risk factosr,and it may be favourable for preventing atherosclerosis initiation and development.
