Abstract

Purpose:To explore the clinical value of multi-slice CT perfusion imaging on cerebral hemodynamics of carotid artery stenosis causing cerebral ischemia and on pre-surgical management evaluation of carotid artery stenosis.Methods:Twenty-one patients with carotid artery stenosis were enrolled in this study, including 19 unilateral stenosis and 2 bilateral stenosis.Multi-slice CT perfusion was used to measure the cerebral blood flow(CBF),mean transit time(MTT).The patients' cerebral hemodynamics was evaluated. Results:Nineteen of 21 patients had impairments ipsilateral to the stenosis side, including decrease of CBF and delay of MTT.Conclusion:CT perfusion can sensitively evaluate the cerebral hemodynamic impairment in patients with moderate or severe carotid artery stenosis, and therefore if CT perfusion show disorder in cerebral hemodynamic, surgical management can improve the symptom.
