Abstract
Objective To evaluate the correlation between carotid artery stenosis and acute cerebral infarction with the combination of cerebral CT perfusion and CT angiography. Materials and Methods CT perfusion and CTA were performed within 6 hours after onset of symptoms of ischemic stroke in 59 patients. CTA was employed to evaluate the degree of carotid artery stenosis, and CT perfusion was used to assess hemodynamic conditions of cerebral infarction. Results Incidence of ipsilateral carotid artery stenosis in the cerebral infarction was higher than that of contralateral carotid artery stenosis(P=0.001). There was significant correlation between the severity of carotid stenosis and neurologic impairment associated with ischemic stroke (P0.05). Conclusion combination of cerebral CT perfusion and CT angiography could evaluate the relationship between the degree of carotid artery stenosis and perfusion of the brain tissue.
