Abstract
The four outlets of the Pearl River in Lingdingyang Bay are the main passages for flood disposal and tide carrying in the Pearl River Delta, change of hydrodynamic environment of which is the most direct cause for evloution of silting and scouring in lingdingyang Bay, in him, the latter will affect the oudets in capacity of flood disposal and tide carrying and also flood control, waterlogging discharge and economic development in the Delta. Based on measured data and research results available, this paper analizes the causes of change in the surrounding environment of Lingdingyang Bay and its change in hydrodynamic environment according to the evolution of esturine topography in silting and scouring. Improvement strategy is discussed for Lingdingyang outlets. It is recommanded measures for discharging sediment and diverting water be taken to reduce siltation and ensure the outlets unobstructed so as to maintain motive force of tidal current in the Bay.
