COMPARISON OF THE DIAGNOSTIC VALUE OF DIFFERENT IMAGING EXAMINATIONS FOR BREAST LUMPS

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of ultrasonography, mammography and MRI for breast lumps Methods 48 cases of breast lumps entered this study.The results of the ultrasonography, mammography and MRI were analyzed and correlated with their pathologic diagnoses. Results The rates of correct diagnosis of ultrasonography, mammography and MRI were 66.7%, 56.8% and 92.6%, respectively.B ultrasonography might miss those breast lumps1 0 cm diameter, and mammography might lead to miss diagnosis. For malignant lesions of 40 years patients, B ultrasonography gave a correct diagnosis in 100.0%, while for those 40 yrs. patients mammography was better than ultrasonopraphy.Conclusion Ultrasonography and mammography are still the commonly used methods to diagnose breast lumps because of their low costs and fairly accurate results. When difficulties are met with by using these two methods, MRI may give some helps.$$$$
