Efficacy and nursing care of Chinese wax therapy on spastic cerebral palsy in children

Objective To study the effect of Chinese wax therapy on relieving muscle strain and increasing the joint range of motion in children with spastic cerebral palsy.Methods 120 spastic cerebral palsy children were divided into two groups.The first group(60 patients) was treated by conventional rehabilitation training and Chinese wax therapy.The second group(60 patients) was only given conventional rehabilitation training.The spastic muscular tension and the motion of joint were assessed in patients of both groups before and three months after treatment.Results The curative effect consisting of the extent of muscular tension remittence and the increase of the motion of joint of the first group was better than that of the second group(u = 2.02,P 0.05).Conclusion Chinese wax therapy can effectively abate muscular tension and enlarge the joint range of motion in children with spastic cerebral palsy.
