Analysis of death causes and potential years of life lost for the occupational population in Taian city

Objective: To analyze the causes of death and PYLL for the occupational population in communities of Taian city during the years 1993-2003;To make community diagnosis and find the sequence of death causes and the priority of health problems of the population.Methods: The Constituent ratio,PYLL and PYLL Rate were calculated with SPSS 10.0,and the sequence of death causes was evaluated.Results: According to Constituent ratio,the sequence of death causes was Cancer,Heart Disease,Cerebrovascular Disease,Injury and Poisoning,Disease of the Respiratory System;according to PYLL,the sequence of death causes was Cancer,Injury and Poisoning,Heart Disease,Cerebrovascular Disease,Disease of the Respiratory System;according to PYLL Rate,ahead of the sequence was Injury and Poisoning,Disease of the Urological and Reproductive System,Disease of the Digestive System,Cancer,Heart Disease.Meanwhile,the sequence of death causes was different while the population sorted by sex.Conclusion: The major death causesof the occupational population of community in Taian city are Malignant Neoplasm,Injury and Poisoning,Heart Disease,Cerebrovascular Disease,Disease of the Digestive System.Injury and Poisoning are the main causes of early death as well as Disease of the Digestive System in males and Disease of the Urological and Reproductive System in females.Synthesized preventive measures based on community should be strengthened.
